The labor of Love

Why does God referrer to his love for us like a parent? “Abba Father” means daddy. And why is it that the moment we first look on our child we understand. We get a glimpse of His goodness and grace… We get a peek at His unconditional Love. We start to understand the meaning of kindness, patients, self control, Joy, and servant hood.
As I watch my four children grow, I realize we are born lazy and selfish. My one year old has discovered the word “first”! As My husband and I unbuckle our boys from the back seat, they start yelling “First…I’m First” Every morning I think, ‘How do I teach them the Love of Christ and His selflessness. When will they understand to be first you must be last and to lead you must serve.’
There is something miraculous that happens when you become a parent. It feels like a leap closer to God and understanding. An “Ah Ha!” You start living your life the opposite way from your past. Every decision is to make your children’s life better; even if it means giving up yourself. The decisions we make sometimes hurt us deeply, but they are decisions we do to keep our children safe, healthy and most of all we do it in hopes they will see Jesus in us! We work harder than we ever thought we could. We physically drain ourselves to ensure their well being. We freeze on that cold winter morning to warm up the car just so our babies don’t shiver. When they hurt, our hearts break and when they fear we will move any mountain, cross any boundary just to comfort them and tell them “momma’s here, everything is ok.”
Middle of the night, like clockwork, one of my children starts crying for us. Our laziness and selfishness is out the window and we leap to the cause. We scare off monster and fight off dragons while losing the last two hours of sleep before the morning rush starts.
God is full of Grace! He allows us to get a glimpse of his love for us through our children and our unconditional love for them. He allows us to break free, if only in spurts, the chains sin has locked us up in; the chains of selfishness and laziness.

Young Woman Goes from NYC Model to Adoptive Mother of Three within a Year
Two years ago, Jessica Hanna was a model and hairdresser in New York City. Now, thanks to a strange set of circumstances, she's the proud mother of four children—one biological, and three adopted.

A couple of years ago, Jessica Hanna (then Marchel) was working as a model and a hairdresser in New York City. Today, she’s happily married in Ellensburg, Washington, and is a mother of four.

You’re probably thinking quadruplets, but you’d be wrong: Jessica and her husband, Tom Hanna, are the proud parents of 3-year-old Nick, 18-month-old Nathan, 9-month-old Marchel, and 7-month-old Hailey. And while just one of the four children is related to the couple by blood, the family is as tightly-knit as any you could imagine.

When Jessica returned home to Ellensburg for a family visit two years ago, she was planning to get back to her jet-setting life in New York as soon as she had the opportunity. But after a former classmate invited her over to see her son Nick, Hanna knew that she had an obligation to stick around.

“I came and looked at him and he was in a total meth house,” Jessica told the Daily Record. She called State Protective Services immediately to get him removed from his mother’s care—and, because the mother had no other appropriate connections, the baby was entrusted to Jessica’s care. Just 21 years old, she knew that her former life of urban glamour was over—but something even better had taken its place.

Knowing that she wouldn’t be returning to New York City, Jessica decided to get connected with her local community again. She met Tom Hanna at church, and worried that she had scared him off by telling him that she had a baby. But her confession had done just the opposite: “I admired the fact that she had left everything that she had in New York so that she could take care of this kid,” he said.

Within just a few months, the young couple was married. Several months after that, Jessica discovered that she was pregnant: Nick would have a little sister.

But their family wasn’t done growing just yet: while Jessica was pregnant, she received another phone call from the State Protective Services. It turned out that Nick had a half-brother, Nathan, who was currently in foster care. The agency was wondering if Tom and Jessica would like to adopt the six-month-old baby. They jumped at the chance.

In October 2008, Jessica gave birth to a daughter, Marchel. They hadn’t planned to have any more children for quite some time—but as it turned out, her meth-addicted acquaintance had just had another baby, too. Just six weeks after Marchel’s birth, Jessica received yet another call, asking her if she’d like to adopt the woman’s third child.

Though Jessica was already dealing with the challenges of life with a newborn, she said yes without a second thought. “How quick can you get here?” asked the Protective Services agent. “She’s hungry.”

The Hannas loaded up the car that day to go and pick up baby Hailey, who was just two days old.

Even with their suddenly large family, Jessica and Tom have already established a successful salon, called Hanna Marchel. When Jessica meets with clients, they’re often shocked to hear the story of her three adoptions, but Jessica claims she’d do it again in a heartbeat—though probably not for a few more years.

“Being a foster parent is something special. Your heart has to be really prepared,” she said. “These little children’s hearts are breaking. Why not let yours break a little for them?”

Season Of Thanksgiving!

I have always heard stories of things happening to people as random acts of kindness but have never experienced it as directly as I have thses last few weeks.

Few Weeks ago.

Tom and I loaned out our car until our friends could get thiers fixed. thats just what friends do. when the car was returned not only did it have a full tank of gas but a whole date for Tom and I planned and payed for! Wow!

Friday Night

Friday night I have WyleLife (middle School Young Life) that I help lead. On these nights I don't get to see the kids before they go to bed and usually end up waking them up just to say goodnight. but, this last friday I convieved to Tom to take the kids and I out for dinner so I could see them that evening. we were planning on going to pizza hut but I knew Tom would rather have mexican food so I changed plans last minute.

Dinner was really good and the kids were wonderful! the restrant placed us in the very back corner near the bathroom. As we were finishing up, a man with a white berd came by just to say hi. We did not know him but the kids liked him a lot. Nathan started calling him Grandpa. (made me embarraced) Realizing I now was going to be late for WyleLife we all throw our coats on and I asked for our bill. The waiter said it was taken care of. I didn't understand. but when I realized who paid for our food, we all ran to catch the man with the white berd.

Nick ran up to this man and gan his leg a hug and said "thank you for dinner" We spent some time chatting and enjoying eachothers company.

That night at WyldeLife I gave a talk. Feeling so blessed about what happened I spoke about Jesus and Hope.

Sunday Boxes

The pass was bad so we remained in Ellensburg for Church. The Pastor at the kittitas community church encouraged up to give thanks to the Lord and our blessing. Being thankful and blessed is somthing I feel all the time thanks to all my babies God has intrusted me with.

Massive growth purt!

Wow! It is amazing how fast kids grow! Today is September 28. Nick is 3, Nathan 21 months, Marchel 11 months and Hailey 10 months. One morning Nathan decided to speak… and he did in complete sentences; So much for his quite charm. He now has a lot to say ( = his first sentence was “I don’t know” this was the answer to a question asked by my mother. “Nathan, where is your mother?”
Nick… oh Nick-Nac. Nick is fully potty trained, and in the big kids room at school. He is developing a serious sense of humor. “mom! Something is stinky!” he said with a little smirk “ I think daddy pooped his pants” with a belly laugh he chuckled and chuckled. He knew he was pretty funny! Nicks sweet charming personality is deepening. He kisses ladies hands and tells them how beautiful they are. He always gets in bed with me and rubs my cheek saying “mommy, I love you. I am your boy” AWWWW! Melt my heart!

Marchel is very proud of her self. She is so close to walking it is scary. She is a good listener and very smart. She says mom dad and dog. Once in a while we will hear others words but not very often. She mostly is into crawling in super speed. She is a feisty little thing and full of energy. She hates holding still. She wants action, action and to keep up with her brothers. If she doesn’t get her way or told no… better watch out, it is fit city! We call her out little terror; as a joke of course. She is a little blessing and we love her. She sure is a QT! a big QT. she wears 18month old cloths and will pass her brothers in height in no time. We always laugh about the thought of the kids being older and Marchel being the tallest. She is going to wonder if she was adopted! Heheheh!

Hailey bug is a princess. She is totally a girly girl and I love it. She is sensitive, calm and a little snuggle bug. Sometimes in the middle of the night I wake her up and hold her. She just snuggles and stares at me. The only time she gets feisty is if you don’t feed her fast enough. She is a little brick. Short petite and dense. Marchel and her always get looks and questions like “are they twins…they don’t look alike.” I answer “ they are our twins” and I leave it at that. The dumb founded faces we get are hilarious! Hailey just started to crawl and talk. She says momma and dada! She has such a sweet spirit about her. I feel we are connected at the heart. She’s my little baby!

As for Tom and I. we are good. Tom has just started his last year at central and is going to start applying to seminary. Young life just started back, so we are busy with that. The salon is doing well but always has more room for growth. I started a middle school girls club called LLA. Girls can get together, fellowship and talk about girl stuff in a safe environment. Thanks to the article in the news papers, we met some awesome people who are planting a church in preston called I-90 community. Our family has been driving there every Sunday to help out. WoW! Talk about an amazing group of people!

Well that’s it for today. I will be writing shortly about our camping trip and adventures.

Family by fate

Family by fate
Hanna family just fell into place

ELLENSBURG — A lot can happen in a year and a half. Just ask 23-year-old Jessica Hanna, nee Marchel. She went from being a model and doing hair in New York to raising a family in Ellensburg in an instant.

Jessica began modeling when she was 14. She’s landed jobs in Japan, California, Canada and New York. When she was 21 and between agencies, she decided to come home to Ellensburg and visit for a while.

While home, Jessica got a phone call from a woman who she grew up with. The woman said she had a baby and she wanted Jessica to come look at him.

“I came and looked at him and he was in a total meth house,” Jessica said.

State Child Protective Services removed baby Nick from the home and the care of his mother. At 9 months old, Nick was placed in Jessica’s care. That was May 2007.

Jessica was able to foster-adopt Nick because she was his fictive kin, meaning she was the most involved person in his life, despite not being related by birth or marriage. It’s also referred to as psychological family.

Twenty-one years old and caring for a 9-month-old baby, Jessica realized she wasn’t going back to New York. She decided she should get re-acquainted with the community and meet new friends.

Jessica attended Salt, a college ministry group at the Mercer Creek Church (CMA), and noticed Tom Hanna standing in the front row worshipping God.

“I was like, ‘I have to meet that guy,’” Jessica remembers. Normally an outgoing person, she tried to introduce herself but found it too difficult. The second week she got the nerve to talk to Tom, but she rambled on incoherently and then blurted out that she had a baby. She retreated thinking all chances to get to know him were lost.

But technology helped make a love connection, and Tom found Jessica on MySpace. After their first date, a long talk atop Craig’s Hill, the two returned to their friends and gushed about how they had found their other half.

“We both said, ‘met my wife, met my husband,’ ” Jessica said. “We were married 40 days later.”

Tom was understanding of Jessica’s situation and accepted Nick as his own.

“I wasn’t real sure what to think about it at first. But after we started talking, I found out her situation,” Tom said. “I admired the fact that she had left everything that she had in New York so that she could take care of this kid.”

Their marriage is a story in itself. Jessica was at the Social Security office in Yakima, taking care of some things regarding Nick, when a relative of Nick’s birth mother came in and threatened her. They told Jessica they wanted to put her in a body bag and run away with Nick.

Being the determined woman she is, Jessica let the threat roll off her shoulders. But she told the guard what was going on and checked on the daycare where Nick was staying.

“They put the whole church on lockdown,” Jessica said. She got a restraining order and the police suggested they get out of town for a few days. That’s when they decided on a whim to elope in Reno, Nev., just like Jessica’s parents did years ago.

The two were married on Dec. 8, 2007, and Jessica took Tom’s last name — Hanna.

“My family was excited,” Jessica said. “They welcomed us with a bottle of sparkling cider.” (Tom was 19 at the time.)

“My mom didn’t talk to me for a week,” Tom said.

“It took her longer than that to talk to me,” Jessica said. But his mother has come around since then.

The happily wedded couple got another surprise three months later when Jessica discovered she was pregnant. Nick was going to have a sister.

Then in July 2008, Jessica got a call asking if she wanted another baby.

“We heard that Nick had a half brother in the foster care system,” Jessica said. “We jumped in with Nathan right when he was ready to be adopted … we got really lucky with that.”

The Hannas took 6-month-old Nathan home a month later. Being Nick’s half brother and Jessica’s fictive kin helped speed the process up.

Jessica gave birth to baby Marchel, her maiden name, on Oct. 29, 2008. But the family didn’t stop at three kids. Six weeks later, Jessica got another call.

“They call us and they say, ‘hey they had another baby, do you guys want it?’” Jessica said. The couple didn’t hesitate to say yes. Then came the response: “How quick can you get here? She’s hungry.”

Jessica was still on maternity leave, so they loaded up the gang and picked up 2-day-old baby Hailey, Nathan’s full sister and Nick’s half sister.

In January they opened up a Paul Mitchell focus salon called Hanna Marchel. Located at 404 N. Anderson St. in a beautiful old-fashioned house, the salon has an esthetician room, a body waxing room, performs spa facials, and will soon offer permanent makeup. Jessica is a Paul Mitchell educator and a self-proclaimed “hair nerd.”

Tom is a reserve sheriff’s deputy and studies business at Central Washington University. Ultimately, Tom says he’d like to lead a church.

Right now the couple says they are on a five-year-plan, meaning they don’t plan on having more children for at least five years. But what if CPS calls them up tomorrow and says another baby was born?

“Then we’d have another baby,” Tom says.

The Hannas say they will adopt more children in the future.

“You know people actually think that I have a screw loose,” Jessica said. “Really, they think we both do. We’ve had the worst comments.”

But Tom adds that they get a lot of support, too.

“Tons of good comments,” she agrees. But the negative stuff sticks out.

Jessica said clients have told her, “Talk around town is that you actually have a screw loose.” Her response? “Well, maybe I do, but I have four beautiful children who are growing and happy. If that means I have a screw loose, then maybe I do.”

When they get older, Jessica and Tom will tell the children about their adoptions.

“The cool thing about them being adopted is the fact that they’re chosen children,” Jessica said. “I was meant to be their mom, and Tom was meant to be their dad.”

The Hannas have advice for people who are considering adoption.

“Do it,” Tom says.

Jessica says she loves all the kids as if they were her own.

“It’s such a blessing, and having a biological child and my other children, there’s no difference. I feel no different,” she said. “It’s kind of cool that one looks like me a little bit. But you don’t feel any different.”

That’s not to make the experience sound easy. It takes money, time and there are emotional risks involved.

“Being a foster parent is something special. Your heart has to be really prepared,” Jessica said. “These little children’s hearts are breaking. Why not let yours break a little for them?”

July

the more we feed the kids the more they grow. crazy! what a concept! Nick is now potty trained and the proud owner of a gold fish name "Fish". silly kid. the fish was the goal of a long....long...potty training. we made in the nick of time before he turned 3. Nick will be 3 years old on august 15th. our little boy is growing too fast and is becoming such a kind little man.

Nathan can now say about a handful of words. Go, up, mom, dada, moor(more), myle (our dog) marchel hayeee(hailey) and his faviorte no. everything is no. "come here nathan" "NO" "want to sit" "NO" "you want to eat" "NO" good thing he is so cute cuz the no thing is getting old fast! this sage will pass before I know it.

Marchel now has two teeth protruding out of her bottom gums. she is pulling herself up on everything and balancing pretty well for her age. She is crazy about her dad and loves to tell the whole world "Da Da" she only wants mom when she is crying. in her class they call her little Tom because they look so much alike. she also is miss social (she gets that from her momma) waving to everyone who walks by.

Last is my little baby Hailey. Hailey still awaits her first tooth. a little white speck is starting to poke through. she has discovered her voice and makes sure everyone notices her by letting out a loud scream. if she is not the center of attention she'll let you know. Hailey is still a little brick. petite yet solid. what a little wonder

As for tom and I, we are plugging away. still waiting for summer to start. Tom was called a few nights ago to suit up and gaurd a man in the hospital. He was able to encourage the man to keep heading in the righ direction. I thought that was really neat even though I had to sleep alone. this is the last week of toms classes and then has a 7 week break. maybe we can ecsape for a while. take a mini vaction.

The family spent a wonderful day in maple valley visitig Jim Jenny and Mary. I was able to meet some family I have been wanting to meet. we have exchanged many letter but have never met. it was really nice!

My wonderful mother in law bought me a worm bin like the one she has. Did you know a full functionig worm bin (like the kind i have) can decompose 10 to 15 pounds on garbage a day! We are going Green!! I love to peek at my worm! Tom thinks I am such a hippie!

well thats all for the Hanna's. See you all soon

April

Month of April overview…

Tom turned 21!!
We celebrated tom’s birthday in CleElum at a very interesting country bar….more red neck than country. Hehe! There was a midget jumping around and talking to himself. Very comical. We also, met our family at suncadia for dinner. That was really fun! We don’t get to see toms side very often so it was a treat!!
Tom Graduated from the Sheriff Reserve Program
Tom has been taking this training for months; three nights a week and many weekends. In order to graduate he had to complete testing, training and O.C (maced) and tazed! Mary and Jim drove over to join us for the graduation party. It was really nice. The sheriff spoke as well as the Chaplin. I am so proud of him!! He does his first transport tomorrow!!

Spring Cleaning!!
Thank God For Spring! Marchel and Hailey’s room has been successfully cleaned out!! Nathan is now in a bed and Marchel has moved into the crib. Marchel is the 2nd child to now have slept in toms baby crib. CUTE! Hailey is not ready to move out of the bassinet. She still does not sleep through the night. I like it. She is still a little baby… she will always be the baby!

Overall Life is Beautiful!

He has risen!

Hope you and your families had an amazing Easter! Though the weather wasn’t the best it doesn’t change the reason we celebrate. Tom and I decided to go to church with my grandparents at their little community church. I told the pastor sorry because the Hanna zoo came to church. Anywhere we go it is kind of a fiasco. We sat in the back so we would be less of a distraction, but with a church of about 20 people it was hard not to be. My parents came to try to help with the children, but I could tell they we getting a little stressed out. Tom and I spent most of the service sitting in another room so out little hooligans could run around. Heheh.
Our family dressed in twos. Nick and Nathan wore matching blue and white sweaters, Marchel and Hailey wore Pink and green dresses and tom and I wore matching cream shirts. It is easier to keep track of everyone if we all have a matching partner.
After Church we ate at the Cattleman’s association. The buffet was amazing. I ate like I was pregnant again. Three plates of food! Kind of scared myself… Don’t worry, I’m not pregnant. I was really nice sitting there with all my family and not being in any sort of hurry. We sat and visited, ate and sipped on coffee for quite some time. It is not very often we aren’t rushed.
After the restaurant, my cousin Mary, the kids and I went to eat some more at my aunt Kristie’s while Tom went to go work on the Van (his new hobby is working on cars) replacing its brakes. I reminded him that all his kids ride in the van so he better make sure they work!
At Kristie’s, the Nick, Nathan and our other cousins had an Easter egg hunt. The older kids were good about helping the boys find the eggs. Nick though it was really cool. Nathan just went with the flow. The family was really good about entertaining the kids. I had some business to attend to… heheh, the Daycare nominated us for Extreme Home make over and I had to do my part of getting the pictures in order. The daycare is such a blessing to us! (thank you daycare)
Our Easter was a day filled with family and rest. Just what we needed! The brakes turned out good. Tom did a fabulous job. What a man! And the Extreme Makeover Application was successfully mailed. I’ll keep you all updated if we hear anything. Hey you never know. It could happen
See you all soon with our next adventure!

Papa Meekens 80th Birthday

The family took an adventure up to Bellingham for my grandfathers 80th birthday. 80!!! Wow! We drove up there the night before the party and stayed in a motel next to my parents. (Babysitting purposes) heheh! My mother thought she got such a good deal because she booked on Priceline the night before. But, low and behold, when I showed up that evening requesting a room I received the same price she got and a deal because we have triple A! AAA! (Thank you Grandpy Jim) I found it more comical than my mother. ( = we love good deals
That night, We put all the children to bed so my parents could sit and watch tv in our room instead of theirs so we could go out… ya, that lasted about 45 min. the children realized that nana and papa were there so bed time flew out the window! So much for a good time alone! The moment we walked in the door, all the kids knew the “LAW” was back and went back to their sleeping routine. Funny how they can recognize a sucker ( =

The next day we went to my grandfathers 80th birthday. It was a lot of fun and he enjoyed the kids so much. Quite a few people showed up to celebrate. We were able to see and meet a lot of family. The boys thought it was really exciting because they were able to help set up the soda’s in the coolers. What big boys they are!
The trip home was really quick.. the kids and I slept. poor Tom. He is such a champ!!

Spring Break

College was out on spring break. Tom and I decided to take the boys to the aquarium in Seattle. The girls are just too small so we left them at daycare. Thank you daycare!! We went with our good friends Matt and Bonnie and their little girl Evelyn that is Nick’s age. They have been friends for quit sometime. Not as long as bonnie and I (since Kindergarten) but I’m sure someday they will get there!
All three kids thought the fish were really cool! The aquarium had some special guests that Nick was really looking forward to seeing. Dory, Nemo and Marlin had a special exhibit for all the kids who are Finding Nemo fans. It was really cool to watch Nicks face light up when he realized who they were.
Nathan found the whole thing really exciting! He rode in a backpack on tom for half the tour. He liked walking a lot better even though the exhibits were higher up. We stopped and had a snack “under the Sea” . We saw sharks and all sorts of neat fish.
After the aquarium, we stopped at a nice restaurant on the Wharf. The view was spectacular! It actually wasn’t raining! We could see the mountains along the sea line and watched as the ferries came back and forth.
It was our first spring break vacation.. Well day vacation! Still counts!

Nicks Big Fish

Nick caught his first fish at a hunting Expo in Yakima. Grandpa Jerry was showing his elk horns at the convention. Set up was an area where you could pay to catch a fish and donate to a shelter so they can have fish for dinner. Papa decided to take Nick fishing. Nick thought it was pretty cool casting out and reeling in the line until he caught what he really didn’t know he was fishing for….A FISH!

Our Story

It is a little weird when you think about how we became a family and all the occurrences that had to happen to bring us to where we are now. When I was naming this blog site, The Hanna Family Adventures…Adventures was an understatement! Our lives seem to be on a different frequency than others around us. All the crazy situations that happen to us make it seem like we are a sitcom or a walking circus! But through Gods good graces, those bizarre events that occur and throw our groove out of wack , somehow always leave us back on our feet and ready for the next obstacle!
For all our new viewers that are not familiar with our story let me tell it to you….

I was a model living in New York living and chasing my dreams. I questioned why God was not allowing me to meet my husband but knew his timing was not my own. Never did it occur to me that the reason I was not meeting him was because he was still in High school. I know it sounds sick! Don’t worry I am only a few years older ( =
When I decided to take a break from the city and come home for a long vist with the intent to return. I was between agencies and the time could not have been more perfect. I stayed in my best friends warehouse ( the old Diarygold building) until a fire broke out . My beautiful “Castle” I called it, went to ashes! Not knowing it then, but that fire changed my life.
A few weeks later, CPS placed Nick (my oldest) with me. If it wasn’t for the fire I would have never been in a house and nick wouldn’t have been able to live with me. And if it wasn’t for Nick I would have moved back to New York and never met my Husband Tom. And if it wasn’t for Tom, the next three children we have never would have come into my life. Funny how things work out.
I met tom at church the day before Halloween. One our first date we both knew we where meant for each other. I went to work and told the girls I had met my husband and Tom told his roommates he had met his wife.
On dec 5th I won the court case granting me custody of Nick. The next day I received death threats and the police told me to leave town for a while. Since I already had the time off work why not go to Reno and get married! Tom and I flew to Reno (same place my parents eloped to) and were married on our 40th day knowing each other. The trip to Reno lasted not even 36 hours, but it was full of obstacles… will save that story for a later date.
A few months after our run-a-way wedding we became pregnant with baby Marchel. And a few months after that, we heard that Nick had a half brother in the foster care system that was ready to be placed with a pre-adopt family and if we were interested. Of course we wanted him!! So Nathan, 6 months at the time, joined our growing family.
Marchel was born on Oct, 29. She was the only girl in our family for a good 6 weeks, until we receive yet another call for CPS telling us that the boys had a sister born a few days prior and if we would be interested in her as well. Once again we said of course. Then the lady on the other end of the call ask “how quickly can you get here, she is hungry” hehehe… we loaded everyone into the car and drove a half an hour to pick up baby Hailey that was 2 days old.
Today, we are a six member family with two adults and four children 2 and under. Let’s just say we have diapers coming out of our ears, but joy ripping at the seams! Both Tom and I are very happy with each other and all our babies. No matter how ruff the day can be we always have each other at when it is all over.
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our footsteps
My motto is just do something and start somewhere. How is the Lord to determine your steps if you are not even moving. Have your dreams and shoot for them…you might not end up where you thought, but I can assure you, that if you trust in God, the hills and valleys He leads you through up and over , are more satisfying and joyful than the places you ever hoped to be.
Thank you all who view... It means a lot!!!

All the girls from the salon looked fabulous and greeted our guests with beautiful smiles. The night was a true success! We had around 100 guests come view the salon. Ellensburg Pasta Co. gave a beautiful spread of horderves to die for.
The children stayed down stairs with a nanny and made appearances briefly! HEHEHE! They are such wonderful babies!

Little Girls

Marchel
DOB Oct 29th 2008
Hailey
DOB Dec 14th 2008

Six weeks apart, it is like having twins!! Ok…so Marchel is a little taller and has less (NO) Hair. Hailey is a little shorter and has a lot of hair. In fact, she has hair on her back and ears. She’s my little fuzzy midget and Marchel is my bald giant. Heheheheh all in good humor.
Today, when Hailey woke up she started smiling. What a fun surprise! Those smiles weren’t caused by gas pains! Hailey is growing so quickly. My little half loaf is turning into a full loaf of bread. Though she is still not sleeping through the night, I am very happy to wake and feed her. She is so precious. A little snuggle bug! I could not love her more!
Marchel on the other hand… no less love of course…but is growing like a weed; Or should I say flower, a fast growing flower. She fits six month old cloths and size 2 diapers. She’s not even three months! She sleeps through the night and is fascinated with giggling and her hands. The crazy little kid likes to snuggle in bed but could care less to be held. She enjoys toys and movement. Until she is tired, holding her is not much fun. She throws her body weight around like she wants to start running! She’ll be athletic like her daddies side of the fam.
One of tom and my favorite things to talk about is what the kids will be when they grow up. Nick is not the bravest kid (He is frightened by everything) and he enjoys piano and other sorts of music. He will be our Musician. Nathan is extremely tough. The kid hits his head and bangs up against thing more than any child I have ever seen. He will be some extreme sport athlete….we joke and say bull rider. Marchel will most likely be tall ( = She will be our super model or Olympian High Jumper. Hailey... Oh little beautiful Hailey. This little one can be our perfect little ballerina and attend Julliard.
Dreams! Gods plan is always the best but it sure is fun to dream about. Keep our little babies in your prayers so health, safety and God’s blessing can cover them all their days.

Nathan's 1st Birthday

DOB Jan 20th 2008
Nathan’s Birthday was a hit! We reserved the room at my grandfather senior center to celebrate. The little old ladies wheeled in to see all the children. They couldn’t believe they were all ours. Being there really made my Grandpa feel special. He was able to show off his family.
I would have to say Nathan enjoyed his birthday cake the most. Good thing because I was up late making it. The cake called for some serious work. I barrowed the cake pan from one of my friends. It was the build a bare design. After baking the cake I had to make some thick frosting to hold the two halves together, then more frosting to decorate. Good thing Grandma Phyllis can bake because I ran back and forth from her house to mine. My cousin Whitney helped with the decorating. We got a little carried away with all the frosting, chocolate and pixy sticks, but Nathan didn’t seem to mind. He’s a good eater so no wonder he loved his cake.
Presents for him were a little challenging. He got a little practice during Christmas but not enough to make him an expert; though he was a little better this time round. By next year he will be ripping them apart. Good thing he doesn’t know the difference between toys and diapers cuz he got a lot of the less exciting ones. Tom and I were thrilled!
Nathan soaked up the attention on his special day. He wore a ribbon that let everyone know it was his 1st birthday. Aunt Karen brought in balloons and make swords and little dogs for all the kids. Nick, Nathan and Brad sword fought. Nathan didn’t keep up all well as he would have liked due to his legs not cooperating with his energy. Heheh! He takes lots of falls every day, but he is a seriously tough kid… just gets up and keeps going.
Thank you to all the family that sent Nathan cards. For Christmas, we bought him a piggy bank to start saving his dollars from all of you! Thank you very much. And to the ones who gave him a little more than a dollar… well there is a bigger piggy for that; a safer one for that matter. All the kids are very lucky to have all of you... every one of you (READERS!!) Family and friends here, Maple Valley, Ohio, New York, Yakima, Sweden, Scotland…. You all are greatly appreciated! Thank you
